Magic Mush started in 2020 with a small group of friends in Ottawa. Some of us had spent years in mycology and herbalism. Some of us had spent years in therapy. A few of us had spent years in both. The one thing we agreed on: the Canadian magic mushroom scene at the time was a mess. Overpriced. Under-tested. Marketed like Instagram wellness with none of the honesty and none of the accountability.
So we started something different. Small batches, from Canadian growers we knew by name. Every harvest sent to an independent lab, with the numbers printed on the page. No “100mg equivalents,” no mystical marketing, no bro-guru energy. Just careful cultivation, careful testing, careful writing.
Four years in, we’re still small on purpose. Under twenty products at any given time. Every strain has been through our own testing, our own dosing, our own bad nights and good ones. We won’t stock a strain we wouldn’t take ourselves. That’s a low bar and it should be the industry standard, but somehow it isn’t. So it’s ours.
The shop is one piece of the work. The other pieces — the education, the dosing guide, the Notebook, the trip-sitting resources — those are why we’re actually here. If you leave this site knowing more than you came in with, that’s a win even if you never buy anything. That’s the honest math.
We’re not going to save you, and we’re not going to try. But we can be a good source. Careful, honest, human. That’s the whole promise.
